Washtenaw County, Michigan Inmate Search

Washtenaw County, Michigan, provides several public-facing resources that allow users to look up inmates in custody. Through these tools, individuals can access key information, including booking details, charge information, and details relevant to the inmate’s custody status or release.

Depending on the nature of the offense and the length of the sentence, some Washtenaw County arrestees may be transferred to state-operated facilities to serve the remainder of their sentences. For example, the Women’s Huron Valley Correctional Facility in Ypsilanti houses female inmates arrested for state offenses across multiple counties, including Washtenaw. In such cases, the Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC) provides inmate search tools that allow families and the public to locate individuals housed in state-managed facilities throughout Michigan.

If the criminal case falls under federal jurisdiction, the Federal Correctional Institution, Milan (FCI Milan), houses related suspects. Additionally, certain counties with larger or incorporated cities have independent city police departments that may run or manage separate inmate jail rosters. Larger cities within Washtenaw County, such as Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti, have their own city police departments known as the City of Ann Arbor Police Department and the Ypsilanti Police Department, which may maintain jail rosters showing arrest and initial detention.
